| Jinhua Polytechnic-A National Model of Higher Vocational College
Jinhua Polytechnic has inherited the vocational education traditions of six key national and provincial level secondary schools, with more than 100 years’ history in vocational education. It is currently a national model of higher vocational college, and the only college listed the annual top 50 higher vocational colleges nationwide, for teaching resources, internship management, services contribution, international influence, teaching management and student management in 2019. In the same year, it was also selected as the A-level construction unit of “Higher Vocational College with High Quality”.
Jinhua Polytechnic covers 156.4 hectares whose fixed assets are worth 17.3 billion RMB, teaching equipment is valued at 319 million RMB. In addition, the college possesses nearly 3.3 million copies of books, 11 faculties, and 1 affiliated hospital, with 55 majors, including 2 national high-level majors, 3 demonstration projects supported by the state, 2 pilot programs for four-year higher vocational education, 1 undergraduate joint-teaching program and 4 “3+2” year- bachelor degree projects. At present, the college employs more than 1500 professional teachers and there are more than 22,000 full-time students.
Jinhua Polytechnic has been making great efforts to expand cooperation and communication with overseas organizations and it is the member of World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFCP). It has been ranked first in the overall internationalization level of Zhejiang Vocational colleges for three consecutive years. It has established long-term cooperative relationships with overseas universities and educational institutes from more than 39 countries and areas, such as New Zealand, USA and Rwanda, and the inter-school exchange programs cover teachers’ training, scientific research collaboration, student exchanges, Sino-foreign joint programs and other projects. Jinhua Polytechnic has four Sino-foreign joint programs, which are Sino-American Accounting Program, Sino-Canadian Hospitality Management Program, Sino-American Sports Service and Management Program, and Sino-American Nursing Program. In May 2015, Jinhua Polytechnic Wintec International College was jointly established by Jinhua Polytechnic and Waikato Institute of Technology, New Zealand. It currently has six five majors with over 1300 full-time students.
Jinhua Polytechnic has also developed student exchanges with Spain, Finland, Egypt, Singapore and other countries and regions, with over 100 students taking part every year. Attaching equal importance to professional education and cultural education to cultivate ambassadors of Chinese culture, Jinhua Polytechnic has cultivated over 1,000 international students from over 60 countries and regions and helps build a "transnational bridge" for cultural exchanges between China and other countries. In July, 2017, Jinhua Polytechnic established an overseas branch “Jinhua Polytechnic, Musanze” in Rwanda and has carried out vocational skills training for 3,644 880 Rwandans in urgently needed fields such as electronic information and food processing, successfully promoting the teaching modes of vocational education into Africa. In DecemberApril, 20202021, the professional teaching standards of E-commerce and Electrical Automation Technology developed by our school have successfully got the Accreditation of the WDA of Rwandan Ministry of Education and Higher Education Commission and formally incorporated into Rwanda's Educational Qualifications Framework (REQF) ?.
In November, 2021, the program of overseas schools was elected into the "the Future of Africa - China-Africa Vocational Education Partnership" which was raised in the keynote speech by Chairman Xi in the 8th Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. Its subproject of training projects for African vocational colleges’ management personnel and backbone teachers was held in January, 2022, which benefited 32 Rwandan management personnel and backbone teachers. Its subproject of China-Africa Joint Training Program for Applied Talents of Electrical Automation Technology enrolled the first batch in January, 2022 and 64 new students has officially started the class.
Jinhua Polytechnic will continue emphasizing the importance of quality improvement, implementing development strategies, and deepening reforms and innovations. Its goals are to teach with distinctive features, train high quality personnel, serve regional economies, obtain international and domestic recognition, and stride forward towards constructing a first-class comprehensive higher vocational college. |
