Zhejiang Ocean University (ZJOU) is a teaching and research oriented university, co-established by China's State Oceanic Administration and Zhejiang Provincial government. It is authorized to enroll international students (including CSC-supported students) and students from Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan.
It is located in the urban area of Zhoushan Archipelago New Area which is the first state-level new area featuring marine economy and tourism.
There are 69 undergraduate programs and master's degree programs, among which the Maritime Fishery Science and Technology and the Naval Architecture and Civil Engineering are national characteristic specialty, 2 first-class provincial subjects (Marine Science, Fishery), 7 second-class provincial subjects (Food Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Naval Architecture and Maritime Engineering, Chinese History, Mathematics, Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering, as well as 3 first-class subjects for Master Degree (Marine Science and Technology, Fishery, Naval Architecture and Civil Engineering).
It covers an area of 173.133 hectare (sea use area of 46.801 hectare) , and it boasts a collection of 333 million RMB yuan of teaching and research equipment. There are 16097 full-time students and over 1,280 full-time faculty and staff members. There are 10 schools, 3 research institutions and one independent college -Donghai Science and Technology. |
