This year’s Chinese language competition is different and especial. Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and worldwide lockdown, our contestants were not able to get together but have to meet each other on cloud.

Since the beginning of the competition in April, more than 120 international students have participated and submitted their videos with the theme of “Fighting Against the Pandemic” and 18 made their way to the final. The contestants sing songs, recite poems to show their respect to the selflessness and sacrifice of all the medical staff during the pandemic, talk about their ideas and opinions towards the outbreak of covid-19 all in Chinese.

The Chinese language competition is a traditional yearly activity starting 4 years ago with the intention of inspire students’ enthusiasm of learning and speaking Chinese. This year IEC moved the competition to the Cloud because of the lockdown.
