The Opening Ceremony of the Fall Term 2018-2019 Academic Year of International Education College was held in the Auditorium of Library on Binwen Campus on September 26, 2018. Faculty of IEC, representatives of international students and all freshmen coming from fifteen countries attended the ceremony.

Associate Prof. Wang Ying, Deputy Dean of IEC extended a warm welcome to the freshmen and gave a brief introduction to the history of ZCMU as well as IEC. She elaborated the school motto ---- “Seek the Origin at High Aspiration” and hoped that all the students would always harbor the aspiration to be medical practitioners with expertise and virtue. She also highlighted the importance of learning Chinese and expressed her expectations that the students should seize the day and make their life extraordinary.

Ms. Tao Fangfang, a faculty representative, suggested in her speech that students should be responsible for their own life and self-reliant. It was of great importance for students to manage time efficiently and seek a helping hand when confronted with trouble and difficulties. And communication with people around and trying to fit in was also a priority.

Tanmay, a senior student shared his life experience and provided some tips to the freshmen, which will help the them get fully prepared for the coming challenges of studying and living in a foreign country.

At the end of the ceremony, school badges were presented as gifts to the students.

Later this month, lectures on Cultural Adaption, Course Orientation, Healthy Mentality and Safety will be held to facilitate the adaption to the new environment for the freshmen.
